Morocco heads into the 2026 FIFA World Cup with heightened expectations following their historic semi final run in 2022, a feat that elished them as Africa’s most successful team in World Cup history. Drawn in Group C alongside Brazil, Haiti and Scotland, the North African side is widely tipped to progress to the knockout stages.

As the second seed behind Brazil, Morocco enters the tournament with confidence built on a disciplined tactical system. Their approach remains anchored in defensive solidity and quick transition play, a strategy that proved effective against top European opposition in the previous edition. With the tournament set to take place across North America, Morocco is expected to once again emerge as a formidable contender.

A number of key players will be central to their ambitions. Achraf Hakimi continues to lead from the flanks with his pace and ing threat, while goalkeeper Yassine Bounou brings invaluable experience and composure in high pressure moments. Midfield creativity will be boosted by Brahim Diaz, whose technical ability adds a new ing dimension to the squad.

Defensively, Nayef Aguerd remains a cornerstone, offering strength in aerial duels and composure in building from the back. Meanwhile, young talent Bilal El Khannouss represents the future of Moroccan football, providing creativity and vision that could unlock stubborn defences.

Morocco’s group stage campaign begins with a high profile clash against Brazil on June 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. They will then face Scotland on June 19 in Massachusetts before concluding the group stage against Haiti on June 24 in Atlanta.

With a balanced squad blending experience and youth, Morocco aims to build on past success and make another deep run on football’s biggest stage.
