Dr. Omenazu Jackson, Chancellor of the International Society for Social Justice and Human Rights and a chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has reiterated strong backing for the creation of Anioma State, describing it as a critical step to correct structural imbalances affecting the Igbo nation.

In a statement issued Thursday, Jackson emphasized that the Anioma project is vital for strengthening the Igbo community’s demographic, economic, and political influence in Nigeria. He urged traditional rulers, political leaders, and all well meaning Ndigbo to resist any attempt to undermine the initiative.

Jackson criticized Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State, accusing him of deliberately working to frustrate the Anioma State project. He described such actions as provocative and a direct affront to the soul of the Igbo nation.

“The Anioma question is not negotiable. It is rooted in justice, identity, equity, and the urgent need to correct a structural imbalance deliberately imposed on the Igbo nation,” Jackson said. He added that the creation of Anioma State would reunite a major segment of the Igbo people separated since the Nigerian Civil War, expand Igbo land by 7,000 square miles, increase population relevance to over four million, and provide access to the sea via the River Niger, unlocking economic opportunities.

Jackson also warned against alternative proposals such as “Anim State,” calling them distractions motivated by personal political gain. He praised the governors of Ebonyi State, Abia State, and Anambra State for supporting the project, commending their leadership in prioritizing Igbo unity and long term strategic interests.

“Anioma State is justice. Anioma State is identity. Anioma State is destiny. No individual ambition will be allowed to override the will of a people,” Jackson stated, urging all stakeholders to uphold the initiative.
