Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday outlined several conditions that he said could lead to a possible end to the ongoing war involving Iran. In a message posted on the social media platform X the Iranian leader said the fighting could stop if strong international guarantees were put in place to ensure that s against his country would permanently end.

According to Pezeshkian the most important requirement for peace would be a firm global commitment that prevents any future military action targeting Iran. He stressed that the safety and security of the Iranian people must be protected through clear agreements supported by international powers.

The president also called for reparations as part of any future settlement. He said damages caused during the conflict should be recognized and addressed through compensation mechanisms agreed upon by the international community. Pezeshkian added that Iran’s legitimate rights must also be formally recognized before a lasting peace can be achieved.

Although he did not clearly define which rights he was referring to political observers believe the statement may relate to internal leadership developments in Iran and the need for broader international recognition of the country’s political direction.

Earlier this week former United States President Donald Trump commented on reports that Mojtaba Khamenei had been appointed as Iran’s new religious leader and head of state. Trump said he was not satisfied with the development and suggested the new leadership could face serious challenges in the future.

Trump also warned that the situation could create further tensions in the region if diplomatic solutions are not pursued. He said the new Iranian leadership should expect significant difficulties and added that he does not believe the leader will be able to live in peace if the conflict continues.

The latest statements come at a time of rising international concern about inility in the Middle East and its potential impact on global security and the world economy.
