Fidelis Ilechukwu has called for full concentration from his players as Enugu Rangers continue their push for the Nigeria Premier Football League title following a key 2:0 away victory over Bayelsa United.

The Flying Antelopes strengthened their position at the top of the table with the win at the Samson Siasia Stadium, with Chibere Nwobodo opening the scoring before Godwin Obaje added a late second goal to seal all three points.

Obaje’s strike marked his 12th league goal of the season and helped Rangers secure their first away win since January, a result that has boosted their confidence in the title race.

Despite the important victory, Ilechukwu warned that the job is far from finished and urged his squad to maintain focus as the season reaches its decisive stage.

He acknowledged that while the result was positive, the team’s second half performance fell below expectations, with Rangers spending much of the period defending under pressure from the home side.

The coach praised his defensive line and goalkeeper Lucky Abdullahi for their resilience, noting that their efforts were crucial in preserving the lead before Obaje’s late goal sealed the win.

Rangers currently sit top of the table with 62 points from 36 matches, holding the best defensive record in the league and one of the strongest ing returns.

However, Rivers United remain close behind, just one point adrift, keeping the title race tightly contested as the final matches approach.

With only a few fixtures left in the season, every point is expected to play a decisive role in determining the eventual champion of the 2025 2026 NPFL campaign.

Rangers will next face Bendel Insurance in Enugu, while Rivers United travel to face Wikki Tourists in a fixture that could significantly impact the final standings.

Ilechukwu reiterated that his team must remain disciplined and focused if they are to convert their current position into a championship triumph.
