Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria Strengthens Airport Surveillance Amid Ebola Alert

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN has announced the introduction of preventive health measures across all international airports following renewed concerns over Ebola Virus Disease in parts of Central Africa

According to FAAN the agency is working closely with Port Health Services and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention NCDC to strengthen passenger screening and improve early detection systems at entry points into the country

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Mr Henry Agbebire stated that all arriving passengers especially those from high risk regions are being closely monitored for symptoms associated with Ebola Virus Disease

He explained that any suspected case will be immediately isolated and subjected to secondary medical evaluation in line with national and international health safety protocols to prevent possible spread

FAAN also confirmed that staff across airports have been sensitised and emergency response procedures have been reinforced to ensure rapid action in case of any health alert situation

The agency further reassured the public that there is currently no confirmed Ebola case in Nigeria and emphasized that airport operations remain safe and fully functional across the country

Passengers have been urged to remain calm comply with screening procedures and promptly report any symptoms or health concerns to relevant health officials at the airport

This proactive approach highlights Nigerias continued commitment to protecting public health while maintaining secure and efficient international travel operations
