FBI’s raids on John Bolton’s Maryland residence and Washington office, tied to a criminal probe into possible mishandling and distribution of classified materials.

FBI executed searches at the Maryland home and Washington, D.C., office of John Bolton, the former National Security Adviser to President Donald Trump. This operation is part of an ongoing national security investigation focused on the alleged mishandling of classified information. The searches began around 7 a.m. in Bethesda, Maryland, where agents entered and exited with boxes of materials. Bolton was present during the search but was neither detained nor charged.

Bolton, who previously served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and National Security Adviser, has been an outspoken critic of Trump since his departure from the administration in 2019. His memoir, “The Room Where It Happened,” offered a critical view of Trump’s foreign policy, leading to a failed attempt by the Trump administration to block its publication due to claims of containing classified materials, a lawsuit that the Justice Department ultimately dropped in 2021.

The FBI’s recent actions have further strained the already tense relationship between Bolton and Trump. In response, Trump took to distancing himself from Bolton, labeling him a “lowlife,” a view that resonates with various figures across the political landscape. FBI Director Kash Patel asserted that “no one is above the law,” while Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized that the safety of America and the pursuit of justice are non-negotiable.

As the investigation proceeds, more insights into its scope and findings are anticipated in the coming days, potentially influencing the ongoing dialogue surrounding national security and governmental accountability.
