The Association of Nigerian Veterinary and Allied Industrialists (ANVAI) has appointed Dr. Adebayo Kolade as its Interim Director-General, tasking him with advancing members’ interests, spearheading trade facilitation initiatives, and strengthening industry self-regulation. The appointment was confirmed in a statement signed by ANVAI’s National Secretary, Dr. Tunji Nasir, and Chairman of the Transition Committee, Dr. Yila Umaru, following a special general meeting in December 2025.
ANVAI said the appointment comes amid an ongoing organisational renewal process aimed at expanding membership nationwide and enhancing engagement with key regulators such as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
“Dr. Kolade has been saddled with the task of driving the strategic ce process, including the take-off of trade facilitation initiatives and activities for members,” the statement read. “He will also articulate a peer regulation framework and defend industry standards, ensuring the collective interests of practitioners in the animal health value chain are protected and promoted.”
Kolade, a University of Ibadan graduate in Veterinary Medicine, brings over 27 years of experience across multiple segments of Nigeria’s agricultural value chain. He previously served in senior roles at Animal Care Services Konsult and Zygosis Nigeria Limited and hosts a weekly live radio programme, Agric Desk, while conducting training programs for farmers nationwide.
Under his leadership, ANVAI plans to rebrand the association, with a possible name ce to better reflect its role as the umbrella body for animal health industry practitioners. The association expressed confidence that Kolade’s corporate, regulatory, and stakeholder engagement experience would strengthen internal regulation, improve market access, and uphold professional standards within Nigeria’s animal health sector.
