Alphonso Davies will receive full support from Bayern Munich as the club works closely with Canada Soccer to give the injured star a chance of recovering in time for the World Cup.
Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl confirmed on Friday that the Bundesliga champions are coordinating efforts with Canada’s national team, focusing not only on the upcoming tournament but also on the long term health of the player.
Eberl said the club’s priority is ensuring that Davies receives the best possible recovery process after suffering another setback in a series of injury issues this season.
According to Bayern, the 25 year old sustained a hamstring injury in the back of his left thigh following his recent appearance as a substitute in the UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint Germain on May 6.
The injury is expected to sideline him for several weeks, meaning he will miss Bayern Munich’s final Bundesliga match of the season against Cologne as well as the German Cup final against Stuttgart.
Canada’s national team is scheduled to announce its 26 man World Cup squad on May 29, with Davies still considered a key figure if he can regain fitness in time.
Canada will host all their group stage matches, beginning with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on June 12, making his potential participation especially significant for the host nation.
Eberl emphasized that the club and player are aligned in their approach, stating that Davies understands the importance of proper recovery before any return to action.
He added that everyone involved is committed to ensuring the best outcome for both the player’s health and his international ambitions.
Davies has struggled with recurring injuries since returning from a previous long term knee ligament problem, raising concerns about his availability for major fixtures.
Despite these setbacks, he remains one of Canada’s most influential players and a key part of Bayern Munich’s long term plans.
