Nigeria’s Falconets have been handed a challenging group in the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup after being drawn alongside Spain, China PR and New Caledonia in Group F of the tournament set to take place in Poland.
The official draw ceremony was held on Thursday in Łódź, one of the host cities for the global football event scheduled to run from September 5 to September 27, 2026. The Falconets will now begin preparations for what promises to be a competitive group stage campaign against some of the best young teams in women’s football.
Nigeria qualified for the tournament following another impressive run during the African qualifiers and will head into the championship with confidence and experience. The Falconets remain one of the most successful teams in the history of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, having reached the final twice and consistently advancing to the knockout rounds over the years.
Spain are expected to pose a major threat in the group following their recent rise in women’s football, while China PR also bring strong pedigree and experience to the competition. New Caledonia complete the group and will be aiming to make an impact on the world stage.
The tournament will feature 24 nations divided into six groups, with matches to be played across Bielsko Biała, Katowice, Łódź and Sosnowiec in Poland.
Other groups also produced exciting fixtures, including Group B where Brazil and England were paired with Tanzania and Canada. The United States, Japan, Italy and New Zealand headline Group D in another highly competitive lineup.
Nigeria will be hoping to produce another memorable outing as the Falconets continue their quest for a first FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup title.
