Harry Kane delivered a masterclass performance as Bayern Munich sealed their 35th Bundesliga title with a commanding 5 1 victory over 1. FC Cologne on a thrilling final day of the German season.
The England captain stole the spotlight with a sensational hat trick, scoring twice in the first half before completing his fourth league hat trick of the campaign after the break. Kane opened the scoring with a classy volley before adding a superb free kick and later finishing calmly to end the season as the Bundesliga top scorer with 36 goals.
Despite a brilliant solo effort from Said El Mala for Cologne, Bayern dominated the contest with additional goals from Tom Bischof and Nicolas Jackson.
Elsewhere, the relegation battle delivered major drama as VfL Wolfsburg secured the Bundesliga relegation play off spot after defeating FC St. Pauli 3 1. The defeat confirmed St. Pauli’s return to the second division, while 1. FC Heidenheim were also relegated following a 2 0 loss to Mainz.
VfB Stuttgart booked a place in next season’s Champions League after a 2 2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen and TSG Hoffenheim missed the chance to climb higher after disappointing results.
SC Freiburg secured European qualification with a convincing 4 1 win over RB Leipzig, while Borussia Dortmund finished strongly with a 2 0 victory against Werder Bremen.
