A high level delegation from the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s security infrastructure, revealing that a N2 billion housing project for military personnel has reached 85 percent completion. The announcement came during a strategic courtesy visit to Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, at Army Headquarters in Abuja on Monday.

Dr. Ubon Udoh, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASR Africa, led the delegation and used the occasion to congratulate General Shaibu on his recent appointment while also expressing condolences over the loss of his predecessor. She provided comprehensive updates on the ambitious construction project, which will deliver 120 housing units specifically designed for corporals and solrs below that rank. The initiative represents one of the most significant private sector contributions to military welfare infrastructure in recent years.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Udoh articulated the vision of ASR Africa’s founder, industrialist and philanthropist Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, who chairs the BUA Group. She emphasized that peace and social cohesion form the foundation for meaningful national development, a principle that guides the organization’s Security Sector Support Grant program. Her team pledged unwavering commitment to project completion while maintaining the highest standards of quality, transparency, and fiscal responsibility throughout the construction process.

General Shaibu responded with profound appreciation for the partnership, describing ASR Africa’s intervention as a gesture that has rekindled the military’s determination to serve the nation with renewed vigor. He acknowledged the enormous sacrifices made by military personnel across the country and commended the organization for setting a benchmark that other corporate entities and philanthropic organizations should emulate. Beyond expressing gratitude, the Army Chief also appealed for additional support, particularly in rehabilitating facilities for fallen heroes and their families.

Founded in 2021 by Abdul Samad Rabiu, ASR Africa has rapidly elished itself as a major force in addressing developmental challenges across the African continent. The initiative focuses on delivering sustainable, impact driven, homegrown solutions in three critical sectors: health, education, and social development. By targeting infrastructure gaps that directly affect quality of life and national security, the organization has positioned itself as a strategic partner to government agencies and military institutions seeking to improve service delivery.

As construction on the housing units enters its final phase, the project stands as a tangible example of how private sector philanthropy can address pressing social needs while strengthening institutional capacity. With completion expected in the coming months, hundreds of Nigerian Army personnel and their families will gain access to improved living conditions, potentially boosting morale and operational effectiveness across military installations. Whether this partnership model will inspire similar collaborations between other private foundations and security agencies remains to be seen, but ASR Africa has clearly demonstrated that strategic philanthropy can make measurable differences in national development priorities.
