Arsenal have received encouraging injury news ahead of their UEFA Champions League semi final first leg against Atletico Madrid, with key players edging c to full fitness at a crucial stage of the season.

Concerns were raised over the condition of Eberechi Eze and Kai Havertz after both players were forced off during Arsenal narrow one nil Premier League win over Newcastle United at the weekend.

However, there was positive development on Tuesday as Eze was spotted participating in training, raising hopes that he could be available for selection in the important European fixture in Spain.

The midfielder return to training is seen as a significant boost for manager Mikel Arteta, who is looking to field a strong squad for one of the biggest matches of the campaign.

Defender Riccardo Calafiori also returned to training after being sidelined since early April, further strengthening Arsenal defensive options ahead of the semi final.

In contrast, Jurrien Timber remains unavailable as he continues his recovery and was absent from the latest training session.

There remains uncertainty over Kai Havertz, who picked up a knock during the match against Newcastle. Although Arteta described the issue as a minor niggle, the forward is not expected to be risked for the midweek clash.

Arsenal will be hoping that the return of key players at this stage of the competition can provide a timely boost as they prepare for a challenging away fixture in Madrid.

The Gunners are aiming to secure a strong result in the first leg before returning to London for the decisive second meeting.

With the stakes high, Arteta will be closely monitoring fitness updates as he finalises his squad selection for the showdown against Atletico Madrid.
