Akon has said that his life felt easier when he was in relationships with multiple women, compared to being with just one partner.

The 53 year old music star made the remarks during an interview on The Shade Room, where he reflected on his past relationship experiences and his personal views on love and marriage.

Akon, who has previously spoken openly about supporting polygamy, said he finds monogamous relationships more challenging. He explained that managing a single relationship comes with more emotional and personal pressure compared to his earlier lifestyle.

He stated that having multiple partners in the past made his life feel more balanced, while a single relationship now feels more demanding and complicated.

The comments come months after reports that his wife of 28 years, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The development marked a significant shift in the singer’s long term personal life.

Akon, who rose to global fame in the mid 2000s with hits such as “Locked Up” and “Lonely,” has often attracted attention for his unconventional views on relationships and family structure.

His latest remarks have sparked renewed discussion about modern relationships, marriage expectations, and cultural differences in how partnerships are viewed.

While Akon continues to focus on his music and business ventures, including projects in Africa, his personal life remains a subject of public interest due to his high profile status and outspoken opinions.

The interview adds another layer to ongoing conversations around celebrity relationships and cing social attitudes toward monogamy and polygamy.
