Ajadi Backs PDP BoT Intervention, Urges Unity Ahead of 2027 Elections

A leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has commended party members nationwide following what he described as a decisive intervention by the party’s Board of Trustees to ilise its leadership structure.

In a statement issued on Friday, Ajadi endorsed the BoT’s assumption of leadership, calling it a timely and necessary move to prevent a leadership vacuum after the recent Supreme Court of Nigeria judgment. He noted that the intervention provides a pathway for restoring unity, peace, and electoral strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the development offers an opportunity for stakeholders across the party to set aside personal and factional interests in favour of reconciliation and collective progress. He urged members to rally behind the BoT and support its efforts to reposition the party for future success.

Ajadi also called on aggrieved leaders to respect the BoT’s authority and back plans to convene an emergency National Executive Committee meeting. The meeting, he said, is expected to pave the way for the formation of an interim National Working Committee that will guide the party through its current transition.

He stressed that the immediate priority is to elish a credible party structure recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, ensuring the PDP is fully prepared to field candidates across all elective positions in 2027.

The Oyo governorship hopeful further appealed to party leaders, governors, lawmakers, youth groups, women groups, and state chapters to support ongoing reconciliation efforts. He emphasized that unity remains the party’s greatest strength and is essential for electoral victory.

Ajadi concluded by appreciating loyal party members who stood firm during the internal crisis, expressing confidence that the BoT’s intervention will usher in lasting ility and renewed confidence within the party.
