The Kano/Jigawa Chapter of the Alumni Association of the National Institute AANI has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his firm commitment to innovation, research and technological advancement as key drivers of economic transformation.

The commendation followed the appointment of Hon. Engr. Magaji Dau Aliyu, PhD, mni, as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Sheda Science and Technology Complex SHESTCO by the President. In a statement signed by its Chairman, Senator Umar Kibiya Umar, the chapter said the appointment reflects the administration’s determination to reposition strategic national institutions for sustainable development.

According to the statement, Aliyu’s elevation recognises his professional competence, leadership capacity, and years of meritorious service. Entrusting the nation’s apex science and technology complex to an experienced technocrat underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening research and innovation as central drivers of national growth.

The association described the appointment as a milestone for Aliyu and a reinforcement of the President’s reform agenda anchored on science-led industrialisation and economic competitiveness. It expressed confidence that Aliyu is well-positioned to usher in a new phase of research, invention, and practical application of technology to stimulate growth and elevate Nigeria’s global standing.

The Kano/Jigawa Chapter urged the new SHETCO chief to maintain focus, uphold the highest ethical standards, and justify the confidence placed in him, while assuring its support for his tenure, which aligns with the Federal Government’s broader agenda of institutional renewal and national development.
