Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has issued a strong warning to residents of Borno State against aiding or providing any form of support to Boko Haram insurgents, following recent military operations in the region.

The warning comes after an airstrike carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on April eleven twenty twenty six in Jilli, a border community between Gubio Local Government Area in Borno and Geidam Local Government Area in Yobe State. The area has been identified as strategically significant in ongoing counter insurgency efforts.

In a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governor described Jilli Market as a known hub allegedly used by insurgents and their logistics networks. He clarified that the Borno State Government had already shut down Jilli and Gazabure markets five years ago due to security concerns.

Zulum emphasized that the state government works closely with the military and other security agencies before making decisions on resettlement or reopening markets in previously affected communities. He noted that such coordination is critical to preventing a resurgence of insurgent activities.

The governor reaffirmed his administration commitment to safeguarding law abiding citizens while supporting the military in restoring peace and ility across the state. He also disclosed that consultations are ongoing with both the Yobe State Government and military authorities regarding the latest developments.

Urging vigilance, Zulum called on residents to cooperate fully with security agencies by sharing credible intelligence that could aid ongoing operations. He stressed that community support remains essential in the fight against insurgency and in ensuring long term security in the region.
