Representatives of the United States and Argentina have signed a strategic framework agreement aimed at bolstering cooperation on critical minerals supply chains, officials said. The cooperation is intended to enhance resilient access to essential resources including lithium, copper, and other materials vital for advanced manufacturing and energy transition technologies.

The framework aims to reduce reliance on dominant global suppliers and foster sustainable economic growth within Argentina’s mining sector. United States officials highlighted that diversified supply chains for critical minerals are crucial for national security, clean energy goals, and emerging technologies.

Economists noted that the agreement aligns with broader international efforts to secure supply lines for minerals integral to the energy and defence sectors. The collaboration is expected to accelerate infrastructure investment and encourage private sector participation in both countries.
