The United Nations has warned that Sudan is facing a rapidly worsening food crisis as ongoing conflict and severe access restrictions push millions of people c to famine conditions. Humanitarian agencies said violence and insecurity have disrupted farming, markets and aid delivery across large parts of the country.

According to the UN, fighting between rival forces has displaced millions of civilians, cutting communities off from food supplies and basic services. Many areas remain inaccessible to aid workers due to insecurity, damaged infrastructure and bureaucratic obstacles, further compounding the crisis.

The World Food Programme and other agencies said malnutrition rates are rising sharply, particularly among children and pregnant women. They warned that without urgent funding and improved access, famine like conditions could spread in several regions in the coming months.

UN officials called on all parties to the conflict to allow safe and unhindered humanitarian access and urged the international community to step up financial support. They stressed that delays in assistance could result in preventable loss of life on a massive scale.

The situation in Sudan has become one of the world’s most severe humanitarian emergencies, with the UN warning that immediate action is critical to prevent a deepening catastrophe.
