Troops Bust Illegal Arms Factories in Plateau Arrest Five Suspects

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have uncovered two illegal arms manufacturing factories in Vom located in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State arresting five suspects and recovering several weapons and industrial machines.

The operation was carried out by troops of the Quick Response Force QRF of Operation Enduring Peace as part of ongoing efforts to curb the spread of illegal firearms and improve security across Plateau State.

Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh confirmed the development in a statement issued in Jos. According to him the successful raid followed intensive intelligence gathering and strategic surveillance by security operatives within the Joint Operations Area.

During the operation troops reportedly caught five suspects allegedly producing dangerous weapons at the illegal factories. Security personnel also recovered a large cache of fabricated firearms and weapon components from the sites.

Recovered items included nine fabricated AK 47 rifles one locally made pistol four empty AK 47 magazines seven skeletal AK 47 rifles and 10 rifle butts. Troops also recovered 36 empty shells of 7.62mm special ammunition four revolver cylinders and 14 recoiling springs.

In addition several industrial tools and machines used in the production process were seized. These included six hand drilling machines nine filing machines four welding machines and other equipment believed to have been used for illegal arms fabrication.

The Joint Task Force disclosed that all suspects and recovered items are currently in custody while investigations continue. Security agencies are also intensifying efforts to identify and arrest other individuals connected to the illegal arms manufacturing network.

Operation Enduring Peace praised residents for supporting security operations in the state and encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant by reporting suious movements and criminal activities to relevant authorities.
