Nigerian singer and internet personality Speed Darlington has sparked reactions on social media after announcing that he is willing to pay N5 million to any woman ready to have a child for him.
The controversial entertainer made the statement in a video shared on his Instagram page, explaining that he had previously offered N3 million two years ago but failed to find a suitable partner within his preferred age range. According to the 42 year old singer, he has now increased the offer to N5 million.
In the video, Darlington stated that he prefers a non Igbo woman despite being from the Igbo ethnic group himself. He claimed that women from his tribe are “too proud” for his liking and added that he only considered them previously because of his mother’s influence.
The singer further explained that he has no plans to get married and is only interested in having a child. He also said the woman would not be required to live with him and invited interested individuals to contact him privately. Darlington added that he prefers women between the ages of 20 and 24.
The comments generated widespread reactions online, with many social media users debating his statements about relationships, marriage, and tribal preferences. Others also questioned the public nature of the proposal and the age range he mentioned.
The development comes months after the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons declared the singer wanted in 2025 over allegations involving , cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. The controversy followed claims he made online regarding an underage girl, comments he later withdrew and described as fictional.
Darlington subsequently filed a lawsuit against the agency, arguing that the decision to declare him wanted without a court order was unconstitutional and unlawful.
