OSOGBO — Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has cited President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructural and social interventions in Osun State as the key reason for his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fadahunsi, a two-term senator, formally joined the APC alongside Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, Hon. Oluwole Oke, Hon. Sanya Omirin, and Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro in Osogbo. The event also featured the party’s endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Fadahunsi described the move as a strategic alignment transcending partisan politics, aimed at positioning Osun within the framework of national reforms under the Tinubu administration. He noted that Osun East had long supported the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but the region’s interests were often overlooked.
The senator highlighted Tinubu’s impact in the constituency, including the Akure-Ilesa-Ife-Ibadan express road dualization, restoration of water supply, over 700 kilometres of paved rural roads, elishment of an Orthopedic Hospital in Obokun, the School of Nursing in Ijebu-Jesa, and the Federal Medical Centre in Ilesa. He also pointed to the creation of the Federal University of Agriculture in Iragbiji, the Federal University of Health Sciences in Ila-Orangun, and provision of modern health equipment to hospitals as evidence of the President’s commitment to human development.
“Joining the APC, we are embracing a visionary partnership,” Fadahunsi said. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not just a leader of our nation, but a partner in purpose. His administration’s initiatives decentralise opportunities, strengthen local governments, provide seed capital for youths, and expand healthcare and education at the community level.”
He further commended the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, aimed at empowering over 8.8 million Nigerians across 8,809 electoral wards. Fadahunsi and his colleagues endorsed Tinubu for a second term, citing his transformative infrastructure projects, sound economic policies, reductions in food prices, and improvements in national security.
