In the statement, Akpabio emphasized that there is no division within the Upper Chamber and that no senator or caucus is plotting his impeachment. He assured the public that all senators are committed to advancing the legislative agenda and contributing to nation-building efforts. “Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, wishes to state without equivocation that the speculation and misinformation circulating about an alleged impeachment plot against him is the handiwork of fifth columnists who are perpetual merchants of misinformation and purveyors of mischief,” the statement read.
Akpabio reiterated his dedication to leading the Senate in collaboration with other arms of government and stressed that there is no rift among the senators. He described the impeachment rumors as a desperate attempt by certain individuals to sow discord and promote division among the esteemed members of the Senate. He expressed disappointment that some people would resort to spreading falsehoods for their own gains, referring to them as “perpetual merchants of misinformation and purveyors of mischief.”
The Senate President reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the 10th Senate’s Legislative Agenda, focusing on addressing pressing national issues and promoting growth and prosperity for Nigeria. He assured the public that his commitment to the nation’s progress remains steadfast and that he will not be distracted by baseless rumors.
