Security forces have recorded a significant operational success in Karaduwa village, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, delivering a major blow to criminal elements that have terrorised the area for months.

Troops carried out a swift, coordinated, and intelligence-driven operation that led to a fierce gun battle with armed bandits. During the encounter, three bandits were neutralised, while several others fled the scene with gunshot wounds. One suspect was captured alive and is currently in custody, where he is providing valuable information to security agencies to aid ongoing investigations.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of eight motorcycles and assorted weapons believed to have been used by the criminal gang to launch s on rural communities and evade security patrols. These recoveries are expected to significantly disrupt the group’s mobility and operational capacity in the area.

Residents of Karaduwa and surrounding villages expressed relief following the operation, describing it as a long-awaited intervention. Many locals said the military action has restored a sense of hope and safety, noting that it signals a renewed commitment by security forces to protect vulnerable communities.

Military sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated that the success reflects intensified intelligence gathering, sustained patrols, and targeted raids aimed at dismantling bandit hideouts. They added that operations will continue across Katsina State to restrict criminal movements, weaken their networks, and restore public confidence.

The latest development underscores the determination of security agencies to confront insecurity head-on and reclaim affected areas from criminal control.
