During this inquiry, deputies found a note from Renteria admitting to ing Bunyan, prompting a welfare check at their residence where her remains were found. Prosecutors allege that the occurred on September 4 following a heated argument about Bunyan’s post-pregnancy weight. Renteria claimed he choked her during this confrontation after she threatened to prevent him from seeing their daughter.
