Pope Leo XIV Declines Debate with Trump, Calls for Peace

Pope Leo XIV has stated that he has no intention of engaging in a debate with Donald Trump following criticism from the US leader over his remarks on the US Iran conflict.

Speaking to reporters aboard the papal plane en route to Algeria for his first visit to Africa, the pontiff emphasized that his role is not political. He made it clear that his focus remains on promoting peace rather than entering into public disputes.

“I am not a politician,” the pope said, dismissing the idea of any direct confrontation with Trump. “I have no intention to debate with him. The message is the same to promote peace.”

The comments come amid heightened global tensions surrounding the conflict involving the United States and Iran, which has drawn reactions from political and religious leaders worldwide.
