Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly preparing to end his remarkable decade long reign at the club after this weekend according to multiple reports in England.

Guardiola who arrived at Manchester City in 2016 has transformed the club into one of the most dominant forces in world football winning six Premier League titles the club’s first UEFA Champions League trophy and a total of 20 major titles during his time in charge.

Reports from British media outlets including The Daily Mail and The Athletic claim the 55 year old coach could officially step down following City’s final home match of the season against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.

Although the club has not released any official statement speculation surrounding Guardiola’s future has intensified in recent months despite him still having one year remaining on his contract.

Manchester City recently secured both the League Cup and FA Cup and have organised a victory parade through Manchester which many believe could also serve as a farewell celebration for the legendary manager.

Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca who previously worked under Guardiola at City is reportedly among the leading candidates to replace him next season.

Guardiola’s influence on English football has been enormous. His possession based style and tactical philosophy reshaped the Premier League and inspired many top coaches including Mikel Arteta at Arsenal and Arne Slot at Liverpool.

Before joining Manchester City Guardiola achieved major success with Barcelona where he won two Champions League titles and three La Liga trophies. He also enjoyed domestic dominance with Bayern Munich in Germany.

His possible departure comes as Manchester City still await the outcome of investigations into more than 100 alleged financial regulation breaches brought by the Premier League.
