Tottenham Hotspur have thrown themselves into the race to sign Everton midfielder Iliman Ndiaye, setting up a fascinating three-way battle with Arsenal and Manchester City as the transfer deadline looms on Tuesday night at 11pm BST.
Ndiaye, 26, has been with the Toffees for two years since his arrival from Marseille. The Senegal international has produced 17 goals and four assists across 73 appearances in all competitions, including six strikes and three assists in 32 Premier League games last season as Everton finished 13th, comfortably avoiding relegation by 10 points.
Why would Ndiaye leave? Despite having a contract until 2029, the midfielder has reportedly rejected extension talks with the club. He came close to joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal but ultimately stayed put.
Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham have spent over £300 million this summer, bringing in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke among others. Manchester City are searching for reinforcements following the departures of Savio and Omar Marmoush to Spurs, while Arsenal’s priority appears to be Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.
With just days remaining in the window, Ndiaye’s future remains uncertain. The coming hours will determine which top club secures his signature.
