Pakistan’s military has announced that it conducted cross border strikes targeting militant positions inside Afghanistan, following what it described as deadly s on Pakistani soil. The operation underscores escalating security tensions along the porous frontier between the two countries.

In a statement, the Pakistan armed forces said the strikes focused on hideouts used by groups responsible for recent violence. Officials characterized the action as a defensive measure aimed at preventing further incursions and protecting civilians.

Islamabad has repeatedly accused militant networks operating from Afghan territory of launching s in border regions. The issue has strained relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan’s de facto authorities, who have denied harboring armed groups.

While the Pakistani statement did not provide detailed casualty figures, it emphasized that the targets were selected based on intelligence assessments. Independent confirmation from Afghan sources has been limited, and local residents reported hearing explosions near remote areas close to the frontier.

The Taliban led administration in Kabul has previously warned against violations of Afghan sovereignty. Analysts say repeated cross border incidents risk undermining fragile diplomatic engagement between the neighbors.

Security dynamics in the region remain complex, with various armed factions active along the mountainous border. Pakistan has faced a resurgence of militant violence in recent years, prompting calls for stronger counterterrorism measures.

International observers are monitoring the situation closely, concerned that further escalation could deilize an already volatile region. Diplomatic efforts may be required to prevent a cycle of retaliation.

As both sides navigate security concerns and political sensitivities, the latest strikes highlight the enduring challenges of managing cross border militancy in South Asia.
