A 40-year-old landlady, Nafisat Lateef, has been arrested for allegedly poisoning the three-year-old son of her tenant following a minor disagreement in the Odigbo Council Area of Ondo State.

The incident, reported by the child’s mother, Rofiyat, 32, occurred at about 8:30 a.m. when the suspect reportedly gave her son Abdulrasheed a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous. The toddler began vomiting shortly after and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Police detectives, acting swiftly on intelligence, arrested Nafisat and recovered the suspected poisonous substance. DSP Jimoh Abayomi, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed that the suspect is in custody and has made useful statements. Investigations are ongoing, and the case will be charged to court upon conclusion.

Abayomi advised residents to avoid landlord-tenant disputes, warning that such conflicts could escalate into criminal acts. He also reassured the public that the Ondo State Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice and protecting lives and property.
