A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has brushed off any concerns about the growing influence of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

This comes after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar officially joined the ADC in Adamawa State, fueling talk that he may run for president under the party’s banner.

Despite this recent buzz, the Director-General of the Ondo APC group, Adesuyi Adojutelegan, said on Thursday that the ruling party is not shaken. He made it clear that the ADC does not pose a serious challenge to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election hopes.

“It is clear that ADC cannot dislodge the APC. We know the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has joined them now; we are not worried, even if he becomes their presidential candidate, Tinubu will still defeat him,” he stated.

Adojutelegan made the remarks while launching new ward and local government coordinators in Okitipupa. He urged party members to step up their outreach efforts in Ondo South in preparation for the 2027 vote.

He added, “To be honest, Tinubu has no opposition for this coming election in 2027. The President’s performance speaks for itself.”

He praised Tinubu’s handling of security issues, saying the president’s actions are visible and making a difference.

“He is actively addressing our security challenges as everyone can see it, and I am confident he will make Nigeria safer for everyone to live without any fear or intimidation,” he said.

Adojutelegan described the ADC as “a party of aggrieved politicians trying to undermine Tinubu’s achievements.” He said the president remains the strongest choice for Nigeria, pointing to progress in road construction and other infrastructure projects over the past two years.

He also highlighted Tinubu’s economic policies and the student loan programme, which he said are helping more students from low-income backgrounds access education.

The APC coordinator also thanked the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his strong backing of the party in the state. He encouraged the new coordinators to spread the word about Tinubu’s achievements in every community.

“I encourage you all to engage in aggressive campaigning across the wards in the six local government areas of the southern senatorial district,” he said.
