The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has informed the public that Seplat Energy Plc, a Joint Venture partner of NNPC Ltd and a key supplier of gas to the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network, will conduct routine maintenance on its gas production facilities from February 12 to 15, 2026.

NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Andrew Odeh, stated that the maintenance is part of standard industry safety and asset integrity protocols aimed at ensuring the continued reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of critical gas infrastructure.

“During the four-day maintenance period, there will be a temporary reduction in gas supply into the NGIC pipeline network,” Odeh said. “Some power generation companies reliant on this supply may experience reduced gas availability, which could modestly impact electricity generation levels within the timeframe.”

The company emphasized that periodic maintenance is essential to sustain optimal system performance, strengthen operational resilience, and minimise the risk of unplanned outages. NNPCL assured the public that Seplat Energy and NNPCL are working closely to complete the exercise safely and on schedule.

In parallel, NNPCL Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative gas suppliers to mitigate potential supply gaps and maintain network ility. Once the maintenance is completed, full gas supply to the NGIC system is expected to resume promptly, allowing affected power generation companies to return to normal operations.

This routine maintenance highlights NNPCL’s commitment to operational excellence and the safe management of Nigeria’s critical gas infrastructure, ensuring consistent energy supply and supporting the country’s power generation sector.
