The New York Giants have terminated head coach Brian Daboll following a disappointing 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears on November 9, 2025. This defeat marked the team’s fourth consecutive loss, contributing to a disappointing season record of 2-8. The Giants had a 10-point lead in the game, showcasing a potential turnaround that ultimately slipped away.

Daboll, 50, was hired as head coach in 2022 after achieving success as the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator. His inaugural season with the Giants was promising, culminating in a 9-7-1 record and a playoff victory, earning him NFL Coach of the Year honors. However, the following seasons saw a sharp decline, with the team finishing 3-14 in 2024 and now struggling at 2-8 in 2025.

The decision to let Daboll go was shared by Giants’ president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch, who emphasized the need for a ce in coaching to align with the franchise’s goals. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, 39, has been appointed as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Kafka, who joined the Giants in 2022 and was elevated to assistant head coach in 2024, previously worked with the Kansas City Chiefs in various coaching roles.

General manager Joe Schoen will continue to lead the organization and spearhead the search for a new head coach. The Giants’ next game is scheduled against the Green Bay Packers on November 16, 2025, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This decision underscores the Giants’ commitment to enhancing performance and meeting fan expectations amidst a challenging season.
