Julia Koch and her family are set to acquire a 10% minority stake in the NFL’s New York Giants, valuing the franchise at an unprecedented $10 billion. This deal, announced on September 4, 2025, awaits approval from NFL owners, with a vote anticipated in October. The Giants have been owned by the Mara and Tisch families since their inception in 1925, who began the sale process in February by hiring Moelis & Co. to facilitate the sale of a minority stake. Julia Koch, widow of the late David Koch, spearheaded the successful bid.

Koch’s family, boasting a net worth of $81.2 billion according to Forbes, has previously engaged in New York sports investments, including a 15% stake in BSE Global, the parent company of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets and the WNBA’s New York Liberty, acquired in 2024. This investment marks a significant milestone, as the $10 billion valuation surpasses the previous record for an NFL franchise, which was set in 2023 when Josh Harris’s group purchased the Washington Commanders for $6.05 billion.

Upon finalization of the deal, the Mara and Tisch families will maintain majority control of the Giants, with John Mara continuing as president and CEO. This strategic acquisition highlights the Koch family’s expanding influence in New York’s sports sector, reinforcing their commitment to investing in high-profile franchises. The Giants’ rich history and strategic market position make this deal a pivotal addition to the Koch family’s growing portfolio in the competitive sports landscape.
