The Nigerian Air Force has recorded a major success in its ongoing counterterrorism operations in the North West, delivering a decisive strike against a notorious criminal network in Katsina State. The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 2, targeted a known hideout linked to terror kingpin Abasu Aiki.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the precision air strike took place on 1 May 2026 within the Dan Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area. The mission followed credible intelligence reports indicating renewed terrorist activity and the movement of armed fighters within the area.

Ejodame explained that the location served as a logistics hub and transit point for terrorists loyal to Abasu Aiki. These fighters have been associated with repeated s on communities and security forces across Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua areas of the state.

During the operation, air assets identified several terrorists on motorcycles preparing for coordinated movement. The Nigerian Air Force executed a swift and well coordinated strike, targeting both the fighters and their support structures. Battle damage assessment confirmed that multiple terrorists were neutralized, while the camp and its facilities were completely destroyed.

The strike also triggered secondary explosions and widespread fires, indicating the presence of stored weapons and supplies. This development is expected to significantly disrupt terrorist logistics, mobility, and operational planning in the region.

The Nigerian Air Force emphasized that the operation reflects its continued commitment to eliminating terrorist safe havens and restoring peace and security across affected communities. Authorities reaffirmed their resolve to sustain pressure on criminal elements and protect civilian populations.
