Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has restated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the state remains a safe refuge for law abiding Nigerians displaced from the North East and other conflict affected regions of the country.
The governor made the statement on Sunday during a church service at the EYN Church of the Brethren in Nigeria opposite the Plateau State House of Assembly in Jos.
He expressed optimism that lasting peace would be restored not only in Plateau State but across the Middle Belt and Nigeria as a whole, emphasizing the importance of unity and mutual support among citizens.
Mutfwang noted that some displaced persons had already begun returning to their communities and assured residents that his administration would continue to support peaceful reintegration and coexistence.
He reiterated that Plateau State would remain open to those seeking safety, particularly individuals and families affected by insecurity in the North East, while calling for continued prayers for national peace.
The governor urged citizens to embrace unity and avoid divisive attitudes, stressing that progress could only be achieved through cooperation and shared responsibility.
He also encouraged residents to celebrate the success of others rather than resent it, warning that bitterness and division would not contribute to personal or collective development.
While acknowledging the limitations of government resources, Mutfwang said his administration remained committed to addressing the collective needs of the people and improving welfare across the state.
He commended widows in the state for their resilience and sacrifices, noting their role in sustaining families under difficult conditions, and announced plans for targeted interventions to support them.
Leaders of the EYN Church in Jos praised the governor for his leadership style and responsiveness, particularly in handling security challenges and recent incidents in affected communities.
They described his approach as one that reflects a strong commitment to peace, unity, and the well being of Plateau State residents.
