Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Lilo & Stitch” has distinguished itself as the second-highest-grossing film of 2025, earning $63 million over the weekend and totaling $280.1 million domestically and $610.8 million globally. It now trails only “Ne Zha 2,” which is leading the box office with over $1 billion in revenue. The film’s success is largely credited to its faithful recreation of the beloved 2002 animated classic, resonating well with aunces. Critics have acknowledged its visual appeal and nostalgic value but have pointed out that it may not completely capture the original’s charm. Nonetheless, aunce reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, with a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Additionally, “Lilo & Stitch” is now available on Disney+ as of September 2, 2025, amassing over 640 million viewing hours on the platform, indicating its enduring popularity. The film has also sparked discussions about its cultural significance. Tia Carrere, who voiced Nani in the original, humorously noted a lyrical correction in the live-action version of “Aloha ‘Oe,” expressing delight at the accuracy and praising the new cast.

While comparing it to other live-action adaptations, “Lilo & Stitch” holds a 72% “Fresh” rating from critics, while aunce scores are notably high at 93%. This disparity suggests that, although critics are mixed, the general public has embraced the film. In summary, “Lilo & Stitch” stands out as a significant commercial and critical success, solidifying its stature as one of the top films of 2025.
