The Kano State Hisbah Board has banned commercial tricycle operators in Kano, popularly known as Yanzu Adaidaita Sahu, from wearing three quarter trousers throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The directive was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Deputy Commander General of the board, Mujahid Aminuddeen. He stated that the order was based on the instructions of the Commander General, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, as part of a broader Ramadan enforcement campaign.

According to Aminuddeen, the board will conduct a special operation across the state during Ramadan targeting activities it described as immoral. He warned that any tricycle operator found violating the dress code or other restrictions would be arrested and prosecuted.

In addition to the ban on three quarter trousers, the board also prohibited tricycle riders from playing loud music deemed disturbing to passengers and the public. The use of knockouts across the city has also been outlawed. Other banned practices include indecent dressing that exposes the body, especially by young women, and the display of ographic posters or stickers on tricycles.

The board further directed that male and female passengers must not be mixed inappropriately inside tricycles or seated closely in ways considered unacceptable. Aminuddeen stressed that offenders would face the full weight of the law.

He added that Hisbah operatives would be deployed to mosques during Tarawihi and Tahajjud prayers to collaborate with security agencies in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of worshippers.

The latest measures follow the recent launch of Operation Kau da Badala, an initiative aimed at combating prostitution, drug abuse and other social vices in Kano State.

Ramadan is regarded as a sacred month in Islam devoted to fasting, prayer, charity and spiritual reflection.
