Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after Iran warned it could target key infrastructure across the region if Donald Trump follows through on his threat to strike Iranian power facilities.

Trump issued a 48 hour ultimatum demanding that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical النفط route that handles roughly a fifth of global crude oil trade. He warned that failure to comply would result in the destruction of major Iranian power plants.

In response, Iranian military authorities said any on their facilities would trigger retaliation against United States linked infrastructure in the region, including energy, information technology, and desalination systems.

The standoff comes amid an intensifying conflict involving Iran and Israel. Iran recently launched missile strikes on Israeli towns including Dimona and Arad, injuring more than 100 people and causing widespread damage to residential buildings. The strikes reportedly bypassed air defenses, raising concerns about Iran’s remaining military capabilities.

Israel responded with fresh air raids targeting the Iranian capital, Tehran, further deepening the conflict. Meanwhile, fears over disruption in global oil supply have pushed Brent crude prices above 105 dollars per barrel, signaling potential economic fallout worldwide.

The crisis has drawn international concern, with over 20 countries condemning Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz and calling for ility in the vital shipping lane. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has also come under pressure, with Trump urging allies to take a stronger stance in securing the route.

Military activity across the region has intensified, including reported strikes on Iranian facilities and increased deployment of US forces. Iran has also been accused of launching s on Gulf states and attempting long range strikes on foreign military bases.

As the conflict enters its fourth week, analysts say Iran’s resilience and continued strike capability are raising concerns about a prolonged and wider regional war.
