Officials confirmed on February 1 2026 that Iran and several Gulf states have resumed diplomatic consultations marking a cautious step toward easing regional tensions. The talks focused on regional security economic cooperation and confidence building measures.

Diplomatic sources said discussions were held at the official level and emphasized dialogue rather than confrontation. Participants highlighted shared interests in maritime security trade and regional ility. While no major agreements were announced the resumption itself was seen as significant.

Analysts said improved communication could reduce risks of miscalculation in a region marked by long standing rivalries. Gulf officials stressed that progress would depend on sustained engagement and respect for sovereignty.

International observers welcomed the development urging further dialogue to address broader regional challenges. Diplomats said additional meetings are expected as parties explore areas of cooperation while managing differences through diplomatic channels.
