Confirming the arrest, Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, said, “We have arrested the suspect, and he is currently in custody, undergoing thorough investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department.”

Okoye added that the arrest followed a tip-off from the victim’s family, who had drawn public attention to the incident through a widely shared video.

The police spokesperson also disclosed that officers allegedly involved in mishandling the case have been identified and are being investigated.

The command urged members of the public to report any information related to the case to the nearest police station to assist with the ongoing investigation.
