England midfielder Jordan Henderson has publicly thrown his support behind Ben White after the Arsenal defender faced boos from fans during the national team’s friendly clash with Uruguay at Wembley. The match, which ended in a 1 1 draw, turned into a difficult night for White despite marking his return to the international stage.

White came on as a second half substitute and was immediately jeered by sections of the crowd. The reaction grew louder even after he found the net with what appeared to be a late winning goal for England. However, his evening took another turn when he conceded a stoppage time penalty that was converted by Uruguay captain Federico Valverde, leveling the score.

This match marked White’s first appearance for England since leaving the squad during the 2022 World Cup due to personal reasons. He had remained unavailable for selection throughout Gareth Southgate’s tenure, but new manager Thomas Tuchel has since welcomed him back, offering what many see as a fresh opportunity.

Henderson, who has experienced similar criticism from fans in the past, emphasized the importance of team unity and internal support. He noted that players often face judgment based on narratives that may not fully reflect reality. According to him, the squad understands the pressures and is committed to standing by White during this period.

The midfielder also highlighted that White has reintegrated well into the team and maintained a positive attitude. With another friendly against Japan on the horizon, Henderson stressed that the team will continue to ensure White remains focused and supported despite the external noise.

England’s dressing room now faces the task of rallying together as they prepare for upcoming fixtures, determined to keep morale high and performances consistent.
