In a proactive move to enhance public safety during the festive season, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has committed to improving security measures across all states. This decision follows a directive from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), which emphasized the need for heightened security due to increased population movements and large gatherings anticipated in the 2025 festive period.

During their 8th meeting on December 17, 2025, the governors agreed to bolster inter-agency coordination, protect critical infrastructure, and ensure a strong security presence in identified hotspots throughout the country. These initiatives aim to provide a safe environment for citizens, safeguarding them during the holiday season.

The NGF highlights the importance of collaboration among various security agencies to effectively tackle potential threats. By enhancing coordination and sharing intelligence, the governors aim to create a more secure atmosphere during the festive period.

This initiative reflects a comprehensive approach to addressing security challenges and underscores the governors’ dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of their constituents during the holidays. The concerted effort demonstrates their commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout the nation as citizens celebrate the festive season.
