Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has been honoured with the Edo Icon Award for both 2024 and 2025. The awards were presented at Government House by Ambassador Moses Ebahor, members of his committee, and Dr. Ohi Akpengbe.
Okpebholo received the 2024 Edo Icon Award as Man of the Year and was named Special Governor of the Year for 2025. The committee cited his notable contributions to state development and his wide-ranging empowerment programs for young people, men and women as reasons for the recognition. Observers noted that his progress in a relatively short period were impressive.
Residents of Edo State, including both indigenes and non indigenes, welcomed the decision and praised the governor for his achievements. Ambassador Moses Ebahor, who led the presentation, said the award reflects the visible development the people of Edo have seen under Governor Okpebholo’s leadership.
