The FBI has released surveillance footage of a person of interest in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which occurred on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University during a speech to about 3,000 attendees. Following Kirk’s death, President Donald Trump condemned the act and announced that Kirk will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously. Vice President JD Vance also extended condolences to Kirk’s family in Salt Lake City.
The assassination has raised alarms about the increasing political violence in the U.S., with over 300 politically motivated incidents reported since the 2021 Capitol .
