Dr. Ayo Lam Adesina, son of former Oyo State Governor Lam Adesina, has announced that he lacks the financial resources to run a competitive campaign for the 2027 Oyo State governorship. Speaking to journalists while declaring his intention to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC, Lam Adesina emphasized that his ambition is fueled by faith and commitment to service rather than wealth.

“I have only God. I will contest for governor under the APC platform. The principal objective is to bring Oyo State back to what it used to be, a state full of opportunities for everybody,” he said. Lam Adesina pledged to restore the progressive ideals historically associated with Oyo State and the South West, drawing inspiration from his late father as well as leaders like Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Bola Ige.

Reflecting on the state of public services, he expressed concern over declining standards in schools and healthcare. Citing findings from free health outreach programs he sponsored, he noted a worrying prevalence of undiagnosed conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

Lam Adesina also highlighted his restraint from frontline politics over the past thirteen years, explaining that he avoided federal and state appointments to prevent perceptions of entitlement. He described his candidacy as an effort to sustain the Lamist ideology, emphasizing that it is about the future of children and not personal gain.

On recent APC developments, he congratulated former Deputy Governor Moses Alake Adeyemo on becoming state party chairman, calling him a unifying figure. Lam Adesina warned against neglecting education and job creation, citing potential social inility, and promised an inclusive administration that prioritizes both the affluent and the vulnerable.
