Popular socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu still appears suious of him because of his previous support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking during a livestream with streamer Peller, Cubana Chief Priest claimed the President does not fully trust him because he is Igbo and once campaigned for Obi ahead of the last election.
According to him, “President Bola Tinubu no really trust me as an Igbo man that I am. He look me with one eye because he believes that this one that worked for Peter Obi before at the last election.”
The celebrity businessman, who currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the Pro Tinubu City Boys Movement, explained that he later switched political allegiance because he did not want to remain on the losing side in Nigerian politics.
When asked why he stopped supporting Obi, he responded that he did not want to lose again, adding that only a foolish person repeats the same mistake twice.
Cubana Chief Priest also dismissed Obi’s chances in the 2027 presidential race, describing him as “not serious” while insisting that more strategic politicians would eventually emerge victorious.
His comments quickly went viral across social media, triggering mixed reactions from Nigerians. While some accused him of political opportunism and abandoning the Igbo cause, others argued that his position reflects the reality of Nigeria’s highly competitive political system where many individuals align with power for survival and influence.
Cubana Chief Priest was among several celebrities who openly supported Peter Obi and the Labour Party during the 2023 elections. However, he has since aligned himself with the ruling APC and President Tinubu. He recently purchased an APC primary form to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives before withdrawing from the race on election day.
