City Boy Movement Aims to Connect Leadership With Nigerian Youths

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has said the City Boy Movement was created to bridge the gap between leadership and young Nigerians.

Olawande made the remarks in Benin City during the movement’s leadership tour of the South South region. The delegation was led by its Grand Patron, Seyi Tinubu, alongside the Director General, Francis Oluwatosin Shola.

According to the minister, the initiative is focused on positioning young Nigerians more strategically in governance and nation building. He explained that the regional tour, which kicked off in Edo State, is intended to mobilise inspire and engage youths across the South South.

“The City Boy Movement is designed to bridge the gap between leadership and young Nigerians,” Olawande said, adding that the tour would serve as a rallying point to awaken youth participation in national development.

Also speaking at the event, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo welcomed the group and reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s policies.

Okpebholo praised the movement’s organisation and leadership structure, describing it as a positive sign for the future of youth involvement in governance. He noted that choosing Edo State as the starting point of the South South tour reflects the state’s growing importance in national political engagement.

The governor also commended Tinubu for key economic decisions, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, which he described as a bold step toward long term economic ility.

The City Boy Movement is a youth driven advocacy group aligned with the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda, focusing on grassroots mobilisation, youth empowerment, and promoting government policies through outreach programmes across the country.
