The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has appealed to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to review and increase the number of Hajj slots allocated to Bauchi State for the 2026 pilgrimage.
The Director of Educational Enlightenment of the board, Malam Hashimu Sadiq, made the appeal during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Bauchi. He explained that the 2600 slots currently allocated to the state would not be sufficient to accommodate the rising number of intending pilgrims.
Sadiq revealed that Bauchi State fully utilised all 2516 slots granted for the 2025 Hajj, a development he described as a clear demonstration of the strong commitment and enthusiasm of residents to fulfil their religious obligations. According to him, even more residents have already indicated interest in participating in the 2026 pilgrimage, making it necessary for the Saudi authorities to consider an upward review of the allocation.
He disclosed that the board had already concluded major welfare and logistical arrangements for the 2026 Hajj. These include comprehensive medical support and secured accommodation for pilgrims. “Five houses have been secured close to the Holy Mosque to ensure easier access and comfort for pilgrims from the state,” Sadiq said.
He added that visa processing for intending pilgrims was progressing smoothly, with immunisation being the only requirement left before final departure procedures. The Saudi ministry has fixed March 20, 2026, as the deadline for visa processing, while the Hajj is expected to take place between May and June 2026.
Sadiq urged intending pilgrims to remain calm and cooperative, assuring them of the board’s commitment to their safety, welfare, and a spiritually rewarding experience.
