Early on Saturday, July 19, 2025, a Nissan Versa drove into a crowd of people waiting to enter the Vermont Hollywood nightclub on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, Los Angeles. The incident resulted in at least 30 injuries, with seven victims in critical condition, six in serious condition, and ten in fair condition.

The vehicle first struck a taco truck and a valet stand before colliding with the crowd. Witnesses reported that the driver was later found to have a gunshot wound, though it remains unclear whether this injury occurred before or after the crash. Bystanders reportedly ed the driver following the incident.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and have not yet disclosed the driver’s identity or the motive behind the incident. The Vermont Hollywood nightclub was hosting a reggae/hip-hop event at the time.

This event follows a series of similar incidents in the Los Angeles area. In June 2025, a vehicle drove into a crowd in Inglewood, injuring ten people, including a 14-year-old girl. The driver claimed to have fallen asleep at the wheel. (nbclosangeles.com) Earlier in April 2025, a vehicle-ramming in Vancouver, Canada, resulted in 11 fatalities and over 30 injuries.

The Los Angeles Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation into the East Hollywood incident. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the driver’s condition or the circumstances leading up to the crash.
