Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has dismissed widespread reports claiming that he and his wife Simi welcomed twins, clarifying that the couple actually had a baby boy.
The singer made the revelation during an interview on the morning television programme Great Day Houston aired on KHOU 11 in Houston Texas. The interview was uploaded on YouTube on Thursday.
During the conversation the host congratulated the couple on reportedly welcoming twins earlier in March. However Adekunle Gold immediately corrected the statement saying the reports were false.
“Not even twins. That’s the internet by the way. We have a son” the singer said during the interview.
Adekunle Gold and Simi who are one of Nigeria’s most admired celebrity couples already share a six year old daughter. The singer also spoke about life as a married couple in the music industry describing it as inspiring and rewarding.
According to him being married to another talented songwriter creates a healthy creative environment where they constantly exce musical ideas at home. He also revealed that their daughter is already showing signs of musical talent and interest in entertainment.
The interview further focused on Adekunle Gold’s music career and his newly released album titled Fuji Xtra which he confirmed dropped the same night as the interview.
The singer explained that his current musical direction is heavily influenced by electrofuji a unique sound that combines traditional fuji music with modern high energy production and percussion elements. He also mentioned his band known as the 79th Element a reference to the atomic number for gold.
Rumours about twins had circulated widely since January after Adekunle Gold shared a cryptic Snapchat post saying he asked God for another child and was blessed double alongside a photo of two baby outfits captioned “Double Trouble.”
